A great piece that brings back all sorts of happy German memories. And your point about refugees is so right too. There are weird double or triple standards about what we think about refugees - particularly Palestinians and the victims of so many other forced transfers of the twentieth century. I wrote a piece about this

It’s a hidden history but we have own refugees: British people who were intimidated out of their own areas and homes by “new Britons”. Once the street had “gone” and you were the last local family there, you’d either start having your windows put in or someone would come round with a bag of cash and tell you no one else was going to buy your house.

I think the Establishment has been more keen to keep that under wraps than the “grooming” scandal.

I’d heard of this happening with hindus in bradford, where have you heard it happening as you describe?

Wherever there are significant populations of those most likely to engage in that behaviour. As far as I am aware the intimidation was reported only once on the regional BBC station which covers Luton. But it didn’t refer to people losing their homes.
